Samsung Mobile Philippines formally announced the local debut of the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) as if trying to steal some of the thunder away from the LG G5 which is slated to be announced later today.
So as to not confuse ourselves, the new Galaxy A7 (2016) is the newer version of the similarly named handset that Samsung launched early last year. Product naming aside, the South Korean firm made sure that the new model is at par, if not better than other mid-range smartphones currently in the market.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) is a hair taller and 1mm thicker than its predecessor, but has a more narrow bezels that borders the handset’s 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display. The front and back of the smartphone is bulwarked by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which also gives a more premium look to it.
The model that was launched in the Philippines runs on an Exynos 7580 Octa processor with Mali-T720MP2 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The capacity of the Galaxy A7 (2016)’s inbuilt storage is rated at 16GB, albeit can be further expanded for up to 128GB with a microSD card.
Other notable features of the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) include a fingerprint scanner embedded on the physical home button, 13-megapixel rear camera that’s paired to an 28mm f/1.9 lens, and a more sizeable 3,300mAh battery pack.
