Smart Pay-With-Mobile lets you purchase apps on iTunes and App Store without credit card

Here’s another first on digital payment solutions. Smart today announced “œPay-With-Mobile” service that allows Smart subscribers to purchase paid contents and apps in App Store and iTunes without the use of a credit card. Now, you can pay for apps, games, books, magazines, music and movies on your Apple devices using only your prepaid load or charging the purchase on top of your monthly postpaid bill.

Smart’s “œPay-With-Mobile” service will begin to roll out on February 16, with full availability by end of the month. Here’s how you can register for the service:

1) Register your mobile number.

Text REG to 4949.
You will receive a “œVirtual Credit Card Number”*
via SMS to use on iTunes and the App Store”
Take note of your Card Number, Security Code
and Expiration Date details

This does not grant the user an actual credit card. The number is only valid for use in iTunes Store

2) Enroll “œVirtual Credit Card” details on iTunes

Go to the Apple ID Account Page (Settings> iTunes & App Store)
Tap your Apple ID and click on “œView Apple ID”
Select “œPayment Information”
Select “œMasterCard”
Enter Card Number, Security Code & Expiration Date
Enter any Philippine address.
Press “œDone.”

3) Now, you’re ready to purchase apps, games, music, movies and in-app items from iTunes and App Store

Subscribers will receive an SMS confirming their purchase with their Smart account. A 15% premium will be charged on top of the published App Store and iTunes rates to account for VAT (value-added tax) and foreign exchange rate difference in dollars.

Sun Cellular will also be offering the service to its subscribers soon.

“œSmart understands that not everyone owns a credit card, but that shouldn’t stop people from realizing the full potential of their mobile devices. This is why we have worked hard to bring this groundbreaking service to Filipino users, which we believe will further revolutionize the way they enjoy their favorite lifestyle apps and content on their devices,” said Charles Lim, EVP and Wireless Consumer Division Head at Smart. “œThis is yet another way that Smart is making mobile Internet fun, fast, and worry-free for all of our subscribers.”
