Sony Announces Midranger Lineup of Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra

Sony takes center stage by announcing the Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra, their midrange lineup slated for release this 2018.

Sony Xperia XA2 Succeeds the XA1 Midranger

As successors to last year’s Xperia XA1, the XA2 will sport a Snapdragon 630, a larger 5.2-inch FHD display, and a 3,300mAh battery. Plus, it will also tout a 23-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera with 4k video recording, and 120fps slow motion video. For the selfie shooter, expect an 8-megapixel Exmor R camera with super-wide angle.

For the outer design, the XA2 will continue the ‘loop surface’ design carried by the original XA1. Plus, it will also sport very thin side bezels and bigger top/bottom bezels. Other notable features include 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and Android Oreo out of the box. It will release with four color variants: Silver, Black, Blue, and Pink, in February 2018.

Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra Provides Top-Notch Selfies

As Sony’s ‘breakthrough year’, 2018 will also see the release of the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra. Already the subject of multiple leaks, this phone acts as Sony’s first device with dual selfie capabilities.

Specifically, it will feature two cameras on the front end, a team-up between a 16-megapixel Exmor RS lens with OIS, and an 8-megapixel Exmor R lens with 120-degree wide angle. To top this off, Sony will also include a front-facing LED Flash. Most of its other specs will be similar to the mainline XA2, although the Ultra will be larger at 6-inches, and tout a larger RAM (4GB), battery life (3,580mAh), and internal storage (up to 64GB).

This device releases in February 2018 with Oreo out of the box, and four color variants to choose from (Silver, Black, Blue and Gold).
